Beyond passion, beyond mercy, beyond reason, the faceless guardians of reality work endlessly, silently struggling to preserve the weak balance on which all existence depends. These voiceless forces are the eons, the unfathomable shapers and the eliminators of the multiverse. They exist beyond the comprehension of most mortals and strive endlessly to achieve unfathomable goals, even for many of the oldest inhabitants of airplanes. Eons build order from the chaos of the maelstrom, sow new life on barren worlds, and stop the outbursts of rage of forces that have become too bold. They tear nations apart in steam, dismantle planets in cosmic dust and pave the way for catastrophes. Their paths are beneficial one moment and completely devastating the next, but always without zeal, compassion or malice. Each eon strives passionately but resolutely to achieve the same goal – a pursuit of the ever-changing, changing and readjustable multiplanar balance. United in this eternal and perhaps impossible aspiration, the eons embody the flat hand of an all-powerful metaphorical watchmaker who constantly grants and adjusts the innumerable gears of reality in search of ultimate perfection. Eons have no culture, society, personality or memory beyond the present. Eons that embody larger multiverse principles are generally considered larger, and their work proceeds without hesitation when their goals compromise or threaten smaller eons.
The Eons cooperate only in matters of great existential importance when guided by the Monad, and only temporarily. They see each task as independent of the others and could fully support a person they have clashed violently with in the past. The very act of forming organizations is alien to them, as is the idea that non-eons can be allies or enemies. For them, there are only two states of association: those who are part of the monad and those who are not. [4] In rare cases, eons are known to deviate from the whims of the multiverse. These thugs are usually born from excessive interaction with other races, live beyond the intended time, are exposed to unusual ideas, or are forced to perform actions that they would not otherwise contemplate. These eons usually take on extreme personalities, preferring one aspect of their being to the other – an Akhana is just as likely to become an artist of life as a mass murderer. Normal eons perceive their rogue brothers as high-priority disturbances in the balance of the multiverse and seek the destruction of these rarities with all haste.
Followers of the monad often invoke eons to give advice and approval, as the monad itself is an extremely distant patron. They are particularly adept at asking eons questions and interpreting their vague answers. [8] All eons are related in a state called monad, an omnipresent philosophy[2] or demigod that has existed since the beginning of the multiverse and represents the highest unity between all eons and the multiverse itself. Eons exist as an extension of the multiverse in the same way that organs form a normal creature and see themselves as parts of the entire monad, rather than seeing them as a divine patron saint. When they are destroyed or when they achieve certain goals, they return to the planar fabric and their energies are recycled by the monad. [4] The balance that eons seek in all things begins with oneself. Most eons embody a strong dichotomy that is kept in balance. From the power of birth and death that meet in Akhanas to the philosophies of destiny and freedom embodied by Theletos, the effects of existence take shape and will in their living manifestations. Even the smallest Paraclete combines various elements of creation into their complicated orbits. Such stability extends beyond the eons forms to inspire and guide their minds, giving everyone a single purpose and area of control.
Thus, each one embodies the realm of reality that he would try to balance by trying to impose on all things a harmony as perfect as that of his physical form. Forms of different types directly suggest their abilities and goals, with pleromons, for example, showing the power to create or destroy, and using such influences to change what has become too abundant or sterile. Eons don`t care about their outer forms, often taking the form of abstract whirlpools of quintessence that are dense enough to interact with others. Their body is almost uniform in density and composition, and rarely harmful to the touch. Some eons take vague humanoid forms, but only vaguely, and all eons are faceless. [4] Paraclete (SR 7): Paraclete is the most common eon interacting with deadly spellcasters, actively seeking sorcerers with strong emotions and logical abilities. Some Paracletes become familiar and experience their roles connected with their emotional aura. Pleroma (SR 31): Many records believe that Pleroma is too powerful to summon and bind, and even if such a task is possible, trying to cope with such creatures of creation and destruction may be impossible. Of all the eons, the Pleromas use the least decriable logic and methods.
Strangers often find it difficult to understand the duality of eons, even more so than mortals. School sagas see them as messengers, are adept at interpreting their communication, and almost always follow their instructions. Psychopomps respect the work of eons as guardians, but also mysteriously consider them rivals. [4] Theletos (SR 18): These guardians of freedom and destiny often help sorcerers pursue the former and implement the latter, but like all eons, their views on these issues usually seem contradictory, and they are difficult to control or fully understand. In the maelstrom, legions of eons protect the antipode from regular protean attacks and prevent the circulation of souls from being disturbed, thus preventing the maelstrom from consuming the entire multiverse. [7] All eons are related in a state they know as “the state of all” or “monad,” a supreme unity with all members of their race and the multiverse itself. Therefore, eons exist as an extension of the multiverse; In the same way that bones, muscles, and various moods create a mortal, they exist as part of a greater being. When they are destroyed or when they achieve certain goals, their energies simply disperse and are readmitted into the monad.
They do not die, but are recycled. They have no recognizable memories and seem to exist only in the present and arrive to repair the balance. Relationships with non-eons are usually non-existent, and they don`t feel a sense of affection, remorse, revenge, or similar emotions. Eons treat each task as their own action, independent of all other tasks. Thus, an individual who has already entered into violent conflict with an eon may have the full and fearless support of the eon at his next meeting. Although eons are not vicious creatures, they do not care about individual beings or the struggles and emotions that are at the heart of most of life. The destruction of an entire city or the burning of a huge forest does not mean a manipulation of symmetry either. According to the same law, the creation of a new life or the implementation of defensive measures against impending disasters are equally characteristic actions.
For eons, only the final count counts, and a country overcrowded by humanoids must be slaughtered just as much as a country invaded by voracious fungi. Just as a body`s natural defenses have no mercy or malice to invade parasites, eons do not obscure their goals with emotions. This impartiality also extends to interactions between eons. Without culture, society, or even memory that goes beyond the immediate needs of the multiverse, they don`t build relationships and usually don`t have personalities beyond an automaton-like franchise. There is a vague caste system with eons that influence broader multiverse principles recognized as superior by their inferior brethren. However, this caste system rarely results in real leadership and obedience. If the acts of a largereon endanger the works or even the lives of a large number of small eons, the efforts of the most powerful take place without hesitation. It is only in matters of great existential importance that several eons work together, determined by the unified consciousness of their race and the multiverse itself, and even then rarely for long. Riftwardens, who focus on repairing cracks between aircraft, often cooperate with eons attracted by the same cracks for the same purpose.
The Dikheirian Order, a Nethysian order that seeks a perfect balance between creation and destruction by magic, views eons as extensions of Nethys` will and often serves the agenda of an eon or calls them together as mentors. [4] “At the mythical 8th rank, Aeon always rolls the dice twice and chooses the best result, in attack roles, save throws and launcher level controls to overcome the resistance of spells against chaotic enemies.” This is obviously false, it is not shown in the game, given the progression of the eeon class generated on the astral plane, eons are formed when two opposing thoughts merge in the cosmos and form an eonic nebula. As the fog grows, emotions and debates struggle within, it reaches critical mass and forms a cosmic being known as Aeon. They are extensions of the larger multiverse in the same way that arms and legs are extensions of a mortal body, and their connection to a demigod known as the monad provides a state of unity among all Aeons, despite the differences in their philosophical core. The first Azlanti revered eons as architects who created the material plan from the primordial chaos. They honored them by building the House of the Eons and modeling or carving tiny effigies of themselves to serve as offerings. At least one magically deformed and incredibly powerful eon still lives in the tunnels under the House of Eons. [9] As the eons form in the astral plane,[5] they will then immediately manifest where the monad needs them to accomplish its task using the astral plane as a simple means of transportation.
