Alice Baker Law School Professor

A recent comment by former law professor Alice Baker on Quora provided useful answers for those facing the mystery of law school. Since I`ve never met you before, I have no idea how good you are at dealing with stressful environments. When it comes to stress management, there is a wide range of outcomes. I have seen law students cope with the stress of law school in a healthy way and stay on a uniform emotional keel throughout the three years of law school. I have also seen law students who have not coped with the stress of law school in a healthy way. It depends on the individual. (1) The only reason you are considering studying law is that you are about to get a bachelor`s degree in _____ (Fill in the field with the main compartment of your choice.) Does that mean you shouldn`t study law? Not necessarily. If you are concerned that stress management is an issue for you personally, I encourage you to develop healthy self-care strategies before entering law school so that you do not have to understand these strategies at a time when you are in a stressful environment. If exercise works for you, then exercise. If music works for you, then make music. If yoga works for you, then do yoga. (5) Your previous academic achievements indicate that you are unlikely to ever become a lawyer.

(My general rule of thumb is that you must graduate at least in the top third of your class to be a viable candidate for law school.) (3) The only reason you are considering studying law is because you have the false impression that all lawyers live exciting lives and fuel Lamborghini. There are a few factors that should be taken into account in relation to the ambitions of the law school. Alice holds a Doctor of Laws and a Master of Laws in Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from Bard College. Alice Baker joined the New York City Legal Department in March 2020 as Senior Legal Counsel in the Environment Division, where she works on a range of environmental and community issues, including land use, Superfund remediation, climate change and environmental assessment. Her practice includes advising municipal authorities, negotiating bylaws, defending the city in environmental litigation, and representing the city as a plaintiff in climate change and affirmative coalition litigation. (2) You do not have a good moral character who is entrusted with your customer`s lifetime savings. I mean it`s very serious with alcohol. Alcoholism and drug addiction are a big problem in our profession. You need to find a way to manage stress that doesn`t mean getting plastered.

Otherwise, you are preparing for a world of problems. Prior to joining the New York Legal Department, Alice was a senior attorney at PennFuture, a Pennsylvania-based environmental nonprofit organization. Alice also worked at Super Law Group, LLC, a private environmental law firm in New York City, where she focused on the Clean Water Act and rainwater enforcement issues, and was a director of the New York City Environmental Law Leadership Institute (NYCELLI), a nonprofit organization designed to inform, equip and inspire new conservationists. As long as you follow my three rules, you can choose the stress management strategy you like. (4) You don`t have enough judgment to say “no” when you should, even if it means losing a paying customer.
